Hangin’ with Mr. Couper: Scion tC Gets Updated for 2016

2016 Scion tC

While Scion has just launched the iM hatchback and the Mazda 2–based iA sedan, the newness of those machines—plus the dulling of the sheen on the rear-drive FR-S sports car—means that the tC coupe is currently the brand’s bestseller. That two-door has now been updated for 2016 with features that the press materials say add “new sound, smarts and swishes.”

We presume the “swishes” have to do with the movement of the new rear window wiper fitted to all models. The “sound” would be courtesy of the newly standard Pioneer sound system with a 7.0-inch screen, Bluetooth, and Aha app integration. The “smarts” apparently refer to the “Smart Key” with push-button start. Other farkles include silver interior door handles, a new center-console tray cover, and a shift knob covered in leather.

The six-speed-manual-equipped 2016 tC starts at $20,180, while the six-speed slushbox version will run $1150 more. According to Scion, that’s a healthy “thrill-to-value proposition.” With all that swishin’ goin’ on, how could we argue? The kids dig The Swish. Or at least they did in 2004.
