Ford Escape, Transit Connect Recalled for Dimwitted Dash

Ford is recalling certain 2014 and 2015 Escape SUVs and Transit Connect vans for an instrument-panel issue. The gauge cluster and dashboard warning lights can quit working. Some 203,500 vehicles are affected.

According to Ford, the instrument cluster, warning lights, message function, and warning chimes may not work when starting the vehicle. Affected models are Escapes built in Louisville, Kentucky, from May 19, 2014, to February 6, 2015, and Transit Connect vans assembled in Valencia, Spain, between May 13 and December 10 of 2014. By Automotive News‘s count, this is the 16th time that the Escape has been recalled since its redesign for 2013.



Ford dealers will update the affected vehicles’ dash software at no charge.
